Parsha
“Speak to the entire nation of Israel and say unto them, ‘Kedoshim Tihiyu,’ you shall be holy, for I, your G-d, am holy.” (Leviticus 19:2)
The Midrash (Vayikra Rabbah 24:9) explains: “You may think that with this holiness that I expect of you, comes the ability to even reach My [Hashem’s] level of Holiness. Therefore, the Passuk comes to teach you that that is not the case, ‘for I, your G-d, am Holy,’ which teaches that my Holiness is above your [capacity for] holiness.”
There is a fascinating explanation to this Midrash regarding why we cannot reach the level of holiness of Hashem....
