Parsha In this week’s Parsha, we find that Hashem commanded Moshe to appoint judges and officers. The verse in Devarim 16:16 states: “You shall appoint judges and officers in all your gates [settlements] that Hashem your G-d is giving you, Lishvatecha - for your tribes, and they shall govern the people with due justice.”


The word “Lishvatecha” – for your tribes – seems to be misplaced. The Pasuk would read more smoothly and would appear more grammatically correct if the word had appeared right after the word “officers” earlier in the Pasuk...

Parsha In this week’s Parsha, we find the future site of Hashem’s Holy Shechina described as, “But only to the place which Hashem your G-d shall choose from all your tribes, to set His Name there; you shall inquire after His dwelling and come there.” (Devarim 12:5).


The exact site of the Beis HaMikdash was chosen on account of the remarkable rise in spirituality that occurred there. Noach offered his thanksgiving offerings there after he emerged from the Teivah...

Parsha In this week’s Parsha, we find two separate admonitions not to forget Hashem. The first is found in the very beginning of the second Aliyah. The second is just three verses later- after the psukim mention the attainment of great wealth. Why is this concern of “forgetting Hashem” mentioned twice? It seems to be an unnecessarily redundancy!


The Gemorah in Sotah (5a) records a debate between Rav Nachman and Rava as to what the source is for the prohibition of exhibiting gaavah – arrogance...
